One of the most intersting historical sites in Brooklyn would have to be The Wyckoff House located at 5816 Clarendon Road, Brooklyn, NY 11203. It was built in 1652 and it is the oldest house in New York City.... more
Freeport floods on the south side and the North Side borders a dangerous neighborhood. By Sunrise it is busy and very commercial.
North of Sunrise and up to a few blocks North of Merrick before you get too close to water is nice.
Watch out for sneakers hanging over electrical wires as that is where the drug dealers hang out.... more
As far as Brooklyn goes, Bay Ridge is the classic true "Brooklyn" neighborhood. Nobody wants to change it. Residents like it the way it is and the people moving into the neighborhood are doing so because it is what they want... true "Brooklyn." Remember, Tony Manero (Saturday Night Fever) was from Bay Ridge, the neighborhoods character and reputation precedes itself and that is the draw to the community. The businesses may evolve or change over time but the character of this community will always be the same. Plus it is a really cool place to hang out.
Sincerely,

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Right now, and for the longest time, the Brooklyn Heights promenade has been the big tourist draw to Brooklyn Heights. The views are about the best of the Manhattan skyline you can get. Also now the new Brooklyn Bridge Park is a big draw. A new bridge may add, though there is so much else going on that I don't think it will be a draw in and of itself, but will only add to what is already a great place to visit.... more
Yes, there was a recent article about this. It is a tiny area. There have been many NYC neighborhood names that caught on and many that didn't. For example, staying with Brooklyn, there was a time when the neighborhoods we know as Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Boerum hill were all called, collectively, "South Brooklyn." Then they took on the separate names (supposedly developed by, who else, real estate agents). A couple of years ago there was a movement to start calling them all BoCoCa, reflecting that they were more similar than different. Well, it never caught on... more

One of the best places to access most major trains lines is at the Atlantic terminal /Atlantic Mall plus you also have th Long Island island Railroad. I work out of the Fort Greene area and never had a problem with proximity to hop on a train. Additionally there are a lot of buses if you ever wanted take them that will lead you straight to a train station
