We can not accurately predict that housing prices are going to continue to drop or start rising. Although, there are indications that we have or are reaching bottom with prices appearing to have stabilized. What you should be looking at is the affordability of housing with historically low interest rates below 4% and today's prices to purchase a home. Combined....it's the cheapest it's been in 40 years! An in ground oil tank is not illegal. The concern is that if it leaks, you will have an environmental clean-up issue. If your tank contaminates the ground with oil spillage, it is very costly to rectify. That is why people steer clear of them. The tank can be pressure tested for leakage, but that risks causing a leak in an older tank that might have broken time over time.... more

A lot of rentals will appear on Craigslist. And some agents will put their listings on Craigslist, too, so by looking there you can see both rentals offered by individuals and some of those offered by agents . . . without having to contact the agents.
And one site that's usually pretty good about rental prices in areas is http://www.rentometer.com.

Bellmore is nice. levittown doesn't compare and i think seaford is nice as well.
Merrick is expensive though it is a desireable area with great schools and great location - to highway- malls- beach. a lot. Not just trying to sell, but i do have a home for sale by owner. It's 5 bedrooms and great value for the money. It's 540,000 but it's quite negotiable. take a look- it's on zillow.com and also the website. www.1689oldmillroad.blogspot.com.

The price of houses kept going down. many exports would say that we are at the bottom right now.

You should call your plan administrator to get the correct answer. There should be a telephone number for customer service in your quarterly statement.
If you plan to borrow from your retirement plan for down payment and finance the rest, the mortgage underwriter will require a copy of the terms of the loan, repayment schedule, and if the payments will be deducted from yuor paycheck. Just a heads-up if that is your intent... it's easier to plan to have those documents when you take out the loan rather than trying to chase them down later when underwriting makes the request.
