I like the location of Annecy a lot as you're really at the heart of Matthews retail. Few places in town can you actually walk to Starbucks but it's right there in Sycamore commons. The hardboard siding has its challenges and so many homeowners have taken to placing vinyl siding over the hardboard. While it will cut down on the maintenance, only a high-quality vinyl will look good.
Southwoods is a newer neighborhood that connects into a portion of older Matthews along Reid Harkey. The neighborhoods along Rice & Williams Roads have a lot of offer with regards to price but few amenities if that's important. However, judging by your comments by the school alignment, I would recommend searching in Matthews 28104. Chances are that you'll be in either Weddington or Porter Ridge schools, which are pretty good as well. Plus, taxes are lower, homes are newer - could be a win-win.... more
I'm not sure about diving teams in Middle school in the Charlotte Metropolitan area, but I do know about homes. When you are ready to make a committee with a Realtor, I would love to help you. We came down from Northern VA 20 years ago; we live in South Charlotte. Providence High School is in south Charlotte and they have a fabulous swim team, pool, etc. You may also want to check out the Charlotte-Mecklenburg web site at http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/. Good luck.

These are all great neighborhoods w/in a few miles of each other. I live in between The Heathers & Oakcroft in Windrow Estates & love it! I also just sold a house in Oakcroft. All of them have HOA dues save The Heathers.
Brightmoor & Thornblade are on the west side of downtown Matthews. Brightmoor was built from 1987-1994 mostly with wood siding, 2stories & selling with very little updates. Whereas Thornblade was built from 1997-2001, mostly brick 2 stories & most are selling with upgrades (although the price reflects). The schools are Matthews Elementary, Crestdale Middle & Butler High.
The Heathers, Windrow & Oakcroft are all next to each other. The Heathers was built from 1987-1995 with smaller lots. Windrow is the only one with a clubhouse, lake & swimming pool. It was built from 1973-1984 with a couple of newer homes in the back. Oakcroft is the smallest community, but close. It was built from 1990-2000. The schools are Bain elementary, Mint Hill Middle & Butler high.
I would love to show you around these fabulous areas if you wish.... more
