There are a lot of great places close to the college, it is a good idea to do that for your child, we have lots of people that do that and then when they graduate you can sell or we can do property management for you as a rental.

In most cases the answer would be no. You cannot transfer ownership of your property while you have a mortgage/ lien on that property. However, some mortgages are assumable which means a buyer could potentially assume your mortgage. That could bring up a lot of other issues and you would be best to seek legal assistance if you wanted to pursue this. A mortgage or lein is recorded against the property and that would prevent you from transferring ownership unless they were satisfied.
