Taxes in Little Silver are lower, just by a hair. Fair Haven is one of the very few towns that is going to have a decrease in the town's portion of the tax again this year, though.
That house assessed at $500,000 in Little Silver would have a tax bill of $11,095, in Fair Haven, $11,220. Keep in mind that that's for a house assessed at $500,000, not selling for $500,000. As you know, there can be little relationship between the tax assessment and the asking price. There are many factors why: Were the houses in town revalued last year or 6 years ago? Has the homeowner made improvements since the last valuation, etc.
The most recently published rates (2009) have Little Silver at 2.219 and Fair Haven at 2.244.

Over the past several months we have seen a change in the market, what we have found is price and condition sells the home. On average Little Silver is between 645,000 and 945,000 depending on the area. I have seen homes drop around 5 to 7% , again it depends on the location. Keep in mind, today on the news the stated Monmouth County revenue is up to 60million, which is 5million over last year. This kind of information makes Little Silver and monmouth county and desirable area.
