I think it would depend if you were measuring the square footage while riding in a hot air balloon that had Kansas State Fair stamped on the balloon. You can't trust any website to give you 100% accurate information. Check the country records, but even then, it's a human being who entered that data.... more
I gotta be honest with you, Norma -- it gets hot in Sacramento. We often have 2 or 3 weeks in the summer when temperatures are above 100. But don't let 90-degree temperatures scare you, because anything under 90 is pretty nice. It's not like 90 in a humid city such as Minneapolis, and I have first-hand experience with that.
The first couple years I lived here, I did not wear a coat in the winter. Many Sacramentans wear coats but as a person who has survived 50-degrees below zero temperatures in Minnesota, I don't happen to think 45 is very cold. The winters are mild, somewhat rainy at times, but the rain is generally soft. We have one or two heavy rainstorms in the winter. But it doesn't really rain from April through October.
I like living here. I chose Sacramento as the best place to live in California when I moved here -- I wasn't born here. The prices are affordable, it's a vibrant, fun city with a lot of nightlife, restaurants, museums, parks, attractions -- the shopping, I must say, could be better -- and it has two rivers. Some people will tell you that Sacramento is within close proximity to other areas of interest such as the City or Tahoe, but that's not the big selling point for me. It's the people. I find Sacramentans very down-to-earth and friendly, just like those from the Midwest but without the "Minnesota nice" quality. LOL.
You should come spend some time here and experience first-hand how wonderful Sacramento really is.... more
Due to the current credit tightening, your appraiser might have gotten a new set of guidelines from the lender and being conservative on the total sq. footage. The accepted way is anything that is permitted so you may want to check with the county or through the preliminary title report on the square footage that is in the book. Unless there is a record that the additional (+,-)500 sq. footage, I will follow the county record.
