It's a very mixed area like many urban areas. This particular home is near some of the most expensive real estate in Dallas and not far from some of the toughest.
As for crime rates you really need to check with PD or CRO at the police department. There are online reports, but not sure they always tell the whole story. I'd also speak with the neighbors. They're always a better source of info than anyone, although sometimes it depends on who you talk to. You get someone who just had a break in and they think crime is horrible.....talk to someone who has never been bothered and they'll tell you they never had a problem in 50 years....so try to talk to more than one person if you can.
Drive the neighborhood at different times of day....12noon...5-6-7pm as people are coming home...then at 10pm-12midnight....see who's hanging out, what kinds of cars they drive.....walk the neighborhood...talk to people....talk to business owners at the corner stores and restaurants. The homes range from 1950's to new construction in the 500k-800k range. I do know an excellent builder if you are looking for new construction.
