Dominion Valley and Piedmont are both nice communities with numerous amenities. We moved to Haymarket from FFX county in 2002. Both communities are family friendly. We looked at Dominion Vally but were turned off by the idea that you had to pay "extra" depending on what amenities you choose to use. ..which, to me, seems just flat out dumb. Traffic out of Haymarket going east is a major NIGHTMARE!!!! Hubby's commute to Fair Lakes (19 miles) took over 90 minutes EACH way, and widening 66 has not helped any with that. We no longer live in VA and I'm happy to report that I do not have to get on any interstate for any reason except to go to the city. If I had a choice now, I doubt I would have made that move. We moved because we got a lot more house for the money than we could in FFX county!... more
Curtiss, have you found an area or community you like? There are 3 gated communities in the two areas Piedmont, Dominion Valley & Lake Manassas (LM being the smallest of all 3) are all very popular. They are all growing fast and are getting new schools built to keep up with the demand. If you are not interested in the planned community style, you may like Bryerton, Please feel free to contact me if I can show you homes. I have been a full time Realtor in Haymarket/Gainesville for 11+ years with RE/MAX.
Thank you for your time,

Haymarket is a wonderful area to live especially for families and if you have an active lifestyle. There are many communities that have wonderful amenities, from trails, golfing, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and tot lots. Haymarket is not too far from DC either. Depending on the time of day it can take as little as 45 minutes to get there.
Homes in the area can range in price. You can find a beautiful home in the price range you are looking for. Inventory at this time is low but with the spring market around the corner things should pick up. I would love the opportunity to discuss in detail what you are looking for in a home. Once I have those details I can pull active homes from the system that meet your criteria and email them to you for review. Any that you are interested in we can schedule showings and I am happy to show you the area. I currently live in Haymarket with 4 very active boys, so I know the area well.
I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me at any time!
I remember when they just started building Dominion Valley, it was so beautiful, but all of us locals wondered if they could do everything they were promising, Adult Active Community, Family Active Community, Gated Golf Course Community, Shopping Center, Clubhouse, etc. etc. Well, after all these years I can say, it is a great neighborhood, friendly to all ages, kids, pets, lifestyles. They managed to build it so well that each time I drive through it feels new all over again, it really is beautiful and I know several friends and co-workers who live there, they absolutely love it. PS. The school is in the neighborhood, my church meets there on Sundays! Good luck with your move!... more
Hi Liz- This is definitely a possibly but there are multiple things that you need to take into account. You would need to know if you have equity in your home or if you would have to rent it out. I would be happy to assist you with a free market analysis of your home. That would be your first step to determining what action you would need to take. I know there area very well as I live in Piedmont. Please contact me at anytime.
