Alyssa, the numbers can vary a little depending on taxes and your interest rate and on how much you are putting down. However, for $750 a month you can probably afford a mortgage of 90-95K. As far as "price range," that depends on how much you can get off the price. That depends on a lot of factors, including how well your Realtor can negotiate. If you don't have a buyer's agent, get one.

I believe your given this option so that they will not have to file an unlawful detainer. Signing may not mean you have 10 days to move. Sounds like they just want to know you will not give them a problem when the time does come for you to vacate. Check the link I posted for more clarification.... more
I am so sorry Sue you are going thru all of this. I know times are tough, and it doesn't sound like you have a ton of discretionary cash, but I'd do my best to consult with a Real Estate attorney on this one. There are some free legal forums online. Realtors are great, I've been one for 7 years now but I'd be hesitant as a Realtor to try and sort that mess out and give you good solid advice. Try an attorney for the BEST info out there.
