Eight (8) One bedrooms haves sold in the past year up to $460,000. Currently a single one bedroom is listed asking $400,000. Might I suggest a phone discussion about what meets your needs and budget and then compare ALL active studios and one bedroom in Aspen. Please reply and we can set up time to talk. It sounds to me that you would like to choose a property in the Aspen downtown core. To afford more space, you could buy right outside the core in the Smuggler Mountain area, just East of town, or in the West End at the top of Main Street (South side of the S curve) where there are many nice condominiums with some great views. It would be hard to find something in the West End section that is on the North side of Main Street as that is primarily single family homes and duplexes with prices starting in the $3 million range typically. How many bedrooms do you need? What style do you like? Are views important to you? Let me know and I can send you my neighborhood overview and some properties that may fit your needs.

Yes. I set up my clients with a personal web portal to the entire Aspen to Glenwood MLS. I will set specific searches (such as condo, 2+ beds, under $750,000, in the Core, etc.) and auto emails will be sent to you. You may also communicate your likes/dislikes for each listing which helps us narrow the search and act as soon as a new listing appears or a price is reduced. Please send me an email at Richard@joshuaco.com or visit my personal website www.richardberkshirerealestate.com. A brief conversation will help me find your perfect property in Aspen, Snowmass and the Roaring Fork Valley. Best regards, Richard... more
Contact your Realtor! And FYI you're probably looking at a bogus RealtyTrac listing. They don't include an actual listing. its a ploy to get you to sign up for their "free" list of foreclosures ....which isn't free. If you need the name of a good agent in your area, let me know. I grew up there, my dad was in real estate there, and a know a ton of great Realtors.... more
It is an excellent time to buy in either market. Picking the right property is more important than if it is located in Basalt or Carbondale. There are still many short sale and bank owned properties so there is a selection. Pre-approval is important and actualy required for short or bank sales. Taking advantage of the current interest rates is more important than trying to buy at the bottom. I believe the market is around the bottom but I'm not sure how you really know.
Please let me know how I may be of assistance,
Have a great day!

As an attorney and a Realtor, I strongly urge you to seek professional advice. There are so many ways to meander through the maze. I have helped many clients sell their properties in short sale and have gotten their deficiency judgements waived. I have recommended foreclosure to other clients. I have other clients who benefited most from bankruptcy. The tax issues are different for each. You do not need to be strapped with debt for the rest of your life. There are solutions.
