If you are referring to the Northpointe subdivision in Tomball, there is not a lot of crime. However, just as the other posts have suggested it is a good idea to check with the local and county law enforcement dept. This area is very family oriented with schools close by but apartment buildings have been constructed in the area which can have an affect home sales pricing. Yet even with the apartments it does not appear to have slowed the market down or made a significant difference in pricing. Homes within the Tomball Northpointe subdivision are selling within 99% of list price vs sold price for 2013. Congratulations on your decision to purchase/lease a home! Unfortunately, Sarah's original post was in July of 2008. However, there are currently 8 other homes available for sale and 3 homes for lease in the Stonepine subdivision. I am very familiar with the area and would be more than happy to assist you in your search for a new home.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance to you.

While I agree with the answers given before, you should know that in Texas that any type of lease/purchase agreement has potentially serious pitfalls. The most dire of these is the complete loss of your home due to some minor issue such as not notifying the tenant when you change YOUR insurance company. Please seek out a good real estate attorney before entering into such an arrangement. The property code in Texas is decidedly for the tenant!
