Most in foreclosure have not been vacant that long. Owners have been able to stay in their homes much longer than you would think. Many have tried short selling as well as renting the home out. However, in a newer home situation where there is no defective drywall or exterior intrusions or missing appliances you should have your A/C cleaned and checked, duct cleaning, pest control for atleast 6-12 months, install a humidistat, have all appliance inspected, may need to have septic and well water checked. If bedrooms are carpeted then cleaning and stretching of carpets should be done if not replaced. You could possibly have to replace lanai screens and do a major weed and feed of the lawn.
