Stephanie, everything depends on the age and type of the debt, as well as the state you live in. The statute of limitation is different for every state. I would really need more information to advise you on what to do.
What type of debt is this? (Auto loan? Credit card? medical bill? etc...)
When was the account opened?
When did the account become delinquent?
Who currently owns the debt? (The original creditor or a collection agency?)
What state do you live in? (What state did you live in when you incurred the debt?)... more
That depends...as Fred wrote in his tome below, judicial states are much more complicated that non judicial states, like GA. So...I have seen folks get the move out notice as soon as 30 days after the foreclosure is completed to a few months. Depending upon who "owns" your loan, there are some programs where you can stay in the property, as a renter, for awhile longer. Check with your lender on what, if any program, you might qualify for in that regard. If you should need help in finding a rental to move to, give me a call. Good luck!

Buying a foreclosure is a very easy process, you need to start with an experienced buyers agent, get either qualified by a lender, we csn recommend one, or if paying cash have proof of funds. Then we will start our search, I do suggest if you are an investor that you open your search to short sales too! If you share the area of town you are looking in, I own 4 REMAX offices and I will connect you with a top notch agent. Just let me know. www.mollymcgrory.com... more
I just sold a house to some clients I have worked with for a couple of y ears. They found a they loved - a sense of community, amenities, back yard with a creek, very attractive shingled home with lots of charm. I had the welcome wagon from the community call me to check on whether or not my clients had moved in - "we're behind but don't want to forget them".
I was impressed.
Would be happy to introduce you to them and show you around the neighborhood,.
