Hi, My mother just moved from Queens, NY and was looking for an affordable kind of new apt. complex for seniors and she got approved and moved right in...the tenants are very friendly and welcoming...the area immediately west of the location is not the best but after the 2 mile stretch it cleans up... You can not beat the proximity to the charlotte airport..8 minutes ..uptown-downtown 12 minutes, highway 85,77 and 485..a touch away... the area is quickly being restored will all the construction and plans...and Tyvola rd with all the parks, upscale apts and shopping and 24 hr. Denny's that is soon to open next month will feature so many amenities for the area especially if you drive...Oh! the bus is about 1 block away to uptown inabout 30 minutes........ more
When you are looking for a house in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Area the best site to look up crime rates is going to be going to the police department website. They have a crime mapping system in place that allows you to pin point an address and then to see what the crime is for that area and you can narrow it or expand it as much as you want.
The website for this is: http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/CMPD/safety/CrimeMap/Pages/default.aspx
From there click on for your safety on the top bar and chose the item in the drop down menu you want. I recommend to clients to use the first or second one.
This should help you make a decision if the area is safe in your opinion for seniors.
