Nesquehoning is a beautiful area to live. I grew up there. The town is nestled between 2 mountains which are thick with trees. The town is wonderful for lack of the white noise that never seems to go away day or night when you live in or near a city. The air is clean. Traffic is minimal. Even at rush hour the traffic is substantially less than that in any city. My parents still live in the town. One morning my Dad opened up the trash can & found an opossum asleep on top of the trash that was already in the can. My Dad just laid the trash can on it's side & the opossum removed itself from the can within the hour. My sister was visiting & standing on the back porch smoking a cigarette late one night when a bear came ambling down the back steps 2 doors away. She promptly put out her cigarette & slowly backed into the house. At least once a year the Arthurs or someone else who likes to hunt shoots a bear who has decided that he likes to take walks through the town or raid garbage cans. I've been told by some people who live in more populated areas that it takes a special person to live in a small town like Nesquehoning. I think that's not only because of the wildlife but also because large shopping malls are a good drive away. The malls that my family frequent are Frackville, Hazelton & Allentown. There is a Redner's & a CVS in town along with other small butcher shops and such which are privately owned. The crime rate is minimal.... more
You can get the Sheriff Sale List for Carbon County on their Website it provides the information on the monthly sale date and the homes that are slated for auction. As far as finding out about the deed to the property, you can get that information by having a title search done or possibly from the sheriff. There have been cases in Phila especially where people buy properties at the auction only to find out someone else has a lien on that property.... more
