Dear Dkd,
I'm so sorry to hear that you had this experience. You are entitled to have YOUR OWN representation and most agents are very hesitant to do a 'dual' representation due to their fiduciary responsibility to their client and potential conflict of interest. In this case, the listing agent had fiduciary responsibility ONLY to the seller and there should be no 'splitting'. END OF STORY.
I'm so glad that formats such as this affords you to ask these questions. As you can see by the number of consistent responses, that this was inappropriate and perhaps this will help to further educate the consumer and their rights. - Tue Apr 15 2008, 13:41
Most realtors give you access to the mls without having to register. I have an additional service which allows registered viewers to access the mls and SAVE their properties and view the status just like us realtors get access to. If you would like to see this, go to my website at: www.sfGOLDENproperties.com and send me an email - I will send you the invitation for this. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. - Sat Apr 12 2008, 09:29
Congratulations on deciding to become a first-time homeowner. There is never a perfect time to jump in but certainly if you find what you like, this would be a fabulous time to secure it with an offer. A good real estate agent will advise you on price point. With interest rates low and a 10% price correction, it is a good time. The most important item is you love the home you are considering to purchase. - Sun Mar 30 2008, 10:04
Dear Andrew, When I moved here 8 years ago, I also had to research schools in the city & out in the burbs. If you are going to work at UCSF, you will want to be in the city for convenience. The city is also a great place for high-school children. A really nice neighborhood for $1M is West Portal and Forest Hill Extension. You can get high school 'reports' and view all schools on my website --- under community. Depending upon your children's interests, goals or special needs will help drive which private schools they would want to attend. An excellent academic/sport private schools is St. Ignatius and Sacred Heart.

Adam, It depends on where the 'mountain' home is to be to be found. A great agent will be able to help you with your needs and find what you are looking for. In addition, many realtors such as myself have developed our own network of agents that we refer to if it is outside our expertise or area. Let me know if I may assist you in your search. - Sun Mar 9 2008, 15:41
