I recently put an offer on an REO bank owned house on Monday and never received a response? What gives?

It is my experience in the Virginia Beach area that the banks can take up to thirty days to respond to an offer. It really depends on the bank and the agent who is working for you or the other agent for the bank. It takes alot of perseverance on everyone's part. I had an agent in my office that spent three months trying to close a REO home. She represented the buyer. Hang in there if you really want the house. - Fri Aug 29 2008, 18:10

In the current market in Portsmouth, VA would it be better to sell now or lease until conditons are better?

The current market in Portsmouth or anywhere in Tidewater is somewhat active if you are selling a home in the $350,000.00 or under range. Our market tends to be active until the end of September./October. Then it slows down till January. I had a listing in Portsmouth on the water and it sold within 90 days.
