How much should a reasonable "processing fee" be?

Well what are you getting for the fee ? Hampton roads area is from 195-450 For a RE transacation. I have been known to waive the fee ( pay it my self) . Its really in the negotiations.

I want buy a house with out a realtor what do I need?

I did post ealier but I agree a buyer can buy a home with out an agent. Before I was a realtor I bought and sold my home FSBO. I have to say it did not kill me and YES it did save money in the long run. The biggest challenge was the unknown and then trying to negotiate was not always easy. Like your doctor or attorney you hire them based on the experiance , and ability to get the job or win the case. Your Realtor is that a trusted advisor with experiance. There is no MAGIC class that makes anyone better at this. No exceptional schooling that forms a prized Realtor/agent, there is something that we all look for EXPERIANCE. It has taken me alomst 7 years of " real life school" to earn the trust of my clients. I did not walk out of " Real Estate" school and just wow people over. Some only hired me based on my experiance. So with all that said it is important to know you can do this with out a REALTOR /Agent. but would you go to DUI court with out a Lawyer ? - Wed Jul 23 2008, 04:58
Paul, Why would you want to do that ? I mean the seller is paying for the buyers agent and if they are not you should be getting up to 3% off the "retail price". If all your worried about it money that is answer # 1. now as some of the other Realtors/Agents pointed out tehre is a lot to know when buying a home. Legal rights, terms, and more important the valuable negotiation skills we have gained over 100's of transactions.
