Hi again Gene, Spokane is truly a great place. Denver is also very, very nice as is Portland but if you are thinking seriously of Portland be sure you like the rain.....it gets LOTS of rain. More so per year than Seattle. I have friends in Denver and they really like it there but prices are increasingly getting high there. Aloha, Chris Warmuth. - Sun Sep 21 2008, 12:41
Aloha Gene!

You will really love Spokane and it's beautiful four seasons. I am a life long resident but have traveled extensively to other areas and I love the Northwest and all it has to offer. My family has several homes on Oahu and my dad has lived there in the winter months for the past 25 years. We have a studio in Waikiki at the aqua marine towers overlooking the harbor (across the street from Red Lobster) and the Ele Kai. The other place is out in Waianae at the Hawaiian Princess on the beach just before Makaha. I have gone there several times a year since I was a baby and it's heaven there but my dad who lives there 9 months out of the year is ALWAYS very happy to hit the mainland and come to Spokane. Don't get me wrong he loves Oahu but is always happy to spend time here and really misses it. In short Spokane is so great as well and you'll LOVE our housing prices compared to what you are used to, that's for sure! For your particular situation and the need to be in a public transportation area I would probably recommend the South Hill. It's a beautiful area and is very close to downtown for shopping, entertainment, etc. It also has a wide diversity of housing options to choose from such as a home or lots of condo options ranging from apartment conversions to high end units all centrally located. Another nice area centrally located to our other shopping hub is the northwest side of town. I would be happy to start you on a search so you can get familiar with the types of homes and different areas that each has to offer. Please remember that as a buyer my services are 100% free to you. Also, if you need help with regards to selling your home in Oahu my dad is a real estate broker in Oahu and owns his own company there called Aloha Royal Realty. His service is A++ and will help you with the entire process on that end and I could help you on this end, two agents for one. :-) His website is http://www.aloharoyalrealty.com. My website and contact info is located below. Good luck with everything and best wishes! Most Sincerely, Chris Warmuth Windermere/North Spokane, WA. - Sun Sep 21 2008, 12:10

Hi Cortney,

Spokane is truly a great city with lots to do and lots to see! If you are a hiker and enjoy walking scenic trails you can't beat the centennial trail that spans through spokane and beyond.......really beautiful. We have 5 great ski mountains all within 30min. to 90min. from Spokane, many lakes for recreation, mountains for hiking and camping, Spokanes labeled "near nature, near perfect," is so true! Housing appreciation is still enjoying growth here though slowed and prices are great. We didn't have that overinflated pricing bubble that crashed like most major U.S. cities, however, we have leveled off a bit and sellers are realistic with their pricing. Best of luck to you in your decision! Most Sincerely, Chris Warmuth Windermere/North Spokane, WA. - Fri Sep 5 2008, 11:45

Mead, Deer Park, Riverside?

Chris Warmuth answered:
Kaimik,

Well...... let me tell you the real scoop...... The man eating deer aren't nearly as troublesome as the sasquatch, yetti, and lochness that are so thick in the area...haha! Deer Park is more of a commute and we can have some fairly heavy winters here, but is more rural, so that's why you are finding more in your search and especially if you are looking hard at acreage properties. Mead is in the suburbs area of Spokane and has a strong acedemic reputation, good school, less commute, suburbs area, is going to make demand high. But, if it's large acreage, close in rural living your after, Deer Park is going to have more of what your looking for. If you are planning a trip to check things out in person, I would be happy to give you an in depth tour of these areas and all of Spokane! Again, I would also speak very highly of Wendy Kennedy. Best of luck and take care! Most Sincerely, Chris Warmuth Windermere/North Spokane, WA. - Mon Aug 25 2008, 14:04

List price v sold price?

Chris Warmuth answered:
Hi Kaimik,

Let us be the first to welcome you to Spokane, it's a great place to live! As said below, Spokane hasn't been nearly as effected by a falling real estate market as the rest of the country, however, it is slower here right now as well and a great time to buy. We haven't seen a drop in prices so much as sellers just having to be more realistic and competive in their pricing, especially in the upper price ranges of $300+Ks...... a lot of inventory and longer market time. In short, you can expect to get a good deal with the right negotiations and research on potential homes meeting your criteria. Whomever you should chose, I would very highly recommend getting a good agent to work for you and set you up on a search so you can be informed on our housing prices and see everything that meets your criteria well in advance to relocating here. As you may well already know, being a buyer, an agents services are 100% free to you! As far as area, both are great, the primary differences are you are going to have better luck finding more home for your money and larger acreage in the Deer Park schools area because it's more rural. However, the Mead schools area is a very desirable school district and you are closer to Spokane......just on the outskirts. I would love to help you in any way I can, also, I would speak very highly of Wendy Kennedy who also responded. My contact info and website is located below. Good luck to you and I hope our responses prove useful. Best Wishes, Chris Warmuth Windermere/North Spokane, WA. - Mon Aug 25 2008, 13:45
