About Me
I've lived, worked, and played in Portland, Oregon since making a permanent move from southern California in 2003, with my husband, two sons, and three dogs. I love working with folks from all walks of life to achieve their goals in their next real estate transaction. Service is first and foremost, as I know first hand how busy life can get. Please check out my blog for more information about the Portland Metro area and local events.

what is the best school district in the Portland area?

Michelle Berry answered:
"Best" is very subjective as it really depends on what sort of education you feel is best for your child/children. I have two boys, both with very different needs as one is a brainiac and the other very musically inclined. When moving to Portland from out of state, we decided that Beaverton would be the best match for our needs as the Beaverton district has many option schools that specialize in the arts, communication arts, sciences, technology and I believe this year they are introducing a health sciences school. Even with in the normal district high schools there are options for a traditonal diploma or an international bacclaureate diploma, as well as many honor classes. We have been in Beaverton for 5 years now and have been exceptionally satisfied with the education that our kids have received. Our hometown in Ca had disbanded all music programs, and here my two boys have absolutely flourished in the music programs that start in elementary school and are available all the way through high school. Please feel free to contact me for particulars, and best of luck! - Fri Jul 25 2008, 21:58

Michelle Berry answered:
As the others have said, it's always a good time to buy. Keep in mind that real estate is a long term investment. If your plans for the future are uncertain, and there is a fair chance you will have to move sometime in the next 5-10 years, then it's not a good time for you to buy. But if you are settled in life & career, then do your homework, hire a good real estate broker, and go for it! If you don't then your landlord will reap all the benefits of you paying his mortgage every month. Rates are low, inventory is up, most sellers are very motivated. - Fri Jul 25 2008, 21:30
