The beach vs the inlet. In Murrells Inlet you don't have direct beach access, but you are right on the Inlet and the Intra-Coastal Waterway. In Surfside Beach you are in an incoroporated city, therefore have city government and taxes and cover your water, sewer, sidewalks, town patrol and garbage pick-up to name a most of what is covered. In Garden City you only have county taxes as you do in Murrells Inlet. Just to name a few of the differences. Are you considering a move here? - Wed Jun 4 2008, 13:02

I read your questions and wanted to give you some ideas. Have you considered Surfiside Beach, Garden City, Pawleys Island or Litchfield areas? In your price range you may be able to find something on the South End of the Grand Strand, which is a very appealing area. I did a quick search and there is a 2/2 unit (with one bedroom able to be rented separately) with Litchfield By The Sea ammenities, an area that owners and renters love. Litchfield By The Sea - excellent Rental History. 2 bedrooms with one bedroom lockout - can be rented as 2 units. Sleeps 8 comfortably - screened porch overlooks pond. Storage & parking under bldg. Building has elevator, tennis, lazy river, indoor & outdoor pools. This info to be verified, of course, but according to the MLS $38,000 in gross rental in 2007, asking price is $345,000. If you would like a direct ocean front condo, in Garden City you will be able to find one that may suit also. Visit my website and see all the south end of the Grand Strand has to offer. Another thought is there is a 3 bed 2.5 bath condo in a nice complex that is on the creek in Litchfield with a pool and is a short walk/ride to the beach, selling in the upper $200,000s.
Also, if you are going to consider inland you will be able to find several opportunites on golf courses that will provide you with income from short term rental but still be as close to the beach as Edgewater. I have several ideas, please give me a call or email and we can discuss! - Fri May 16 2008, 05:08
Susie, please email me with your contact info so I can send you some info on what is available in Hagley. Fortunately, the lots in Hagley are a great size and allow for garage/workshop. We have a listing in our office that I would like to send you, it has a great separate two car garage with a half bath and rec room over in addition to a 500 sq ft workshop.
Please email me at nancysiau@msn.com, I can send you the spec sheet on the listing. I lived in Hagley for nearly 10 years so am very familiar with it an know I can find you a great home.

Hi Susan,
Are you in the market for a 3 bedroom/2 bath house in Hagley? I am sure I could help you find something if so. If you are selling I would love to talk to you about listing your house. I have lived in Georgetown, Pawleys and Murrells Inlet for over 40 years so am very familiar with the area and feel I can help you with your purchase or listing. I look forward to hearing from you soon. - Mon Apr 28 2008, 17:51
Lisa,
I am a 40+ year resident of the Grand Strand, I have lived in Conway, Georgetown, Pawleys Island and now Murrells Inlet and the beauty of our area is that we have something for everyone. Have you found a home in the River Club you are interested in? I would be happy to show it to you and give you a tour of the area so you can see locations and advantages of the community, and can better judge if it will suit your lifestyle. Give me a call if I can help you in your search and you are not already working with an Agent. - Sat Apr 26 2008, 07:27
Hi Mark, I am an Agent with Prudential in Pawleys Island. I am familiar with the neighborhoods you mentioned and they all have their pluses. The True Blue community is on one of the more challenging golf courses and has several floor plans and units to choose from. The Hidden Oaks community is paired ranch homes with private garages, one floor and plenty of storage and I have one listed that is lakefront, and Pawleys Place has its appeal also, an established community with private garages, some units lakefront and master bedrooms downstairs with additional bedrooms and upstairs. The monthly HOA/POA varies with each community. But all offer a maintenance free lifestyle!
If you would like me to send you some listings from each community so you can get a feel for the area I would be happy to. Good luck in your search! - Sat Apr 26 2008, 06:58
