I've been sending most of my clients to Kyle Cato at Countrywide Bank in Mill Valley over the past year. He always answers his phone (an underappreciated virtue in his business) and he has never once let me down. Plus, very cheap fees and great rates. Can't recommend him enough! - Wed Jul 16 2008, 15:52

Fairfax is truely a jewell for some, a little rough around the edges for others. Historically, it's been a semi-working class town, at least by Marin standards. With the rising home prices, the profile is becomming more similar to the rest of Marin. You can defintely find value in Fairfax. Think hippies and bohemian types mingled with young professional families. Fairfax works hard to maintain its unique culture and feel. For such a small town, Fairfax has the most vibrant nightlife in Marin. On any given night, there will be 4-5 live music venues, and a dozen restaurants, plus a multi-screen movie theater. In the summer, there is a weekly farmer's market which has evolved into a weekly community gathering. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51

Crime is not a significant issue in Fairfax, other than occassional trouble from someone who has had a bit too much to drink in one of the bars. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
Blaine Morris, Blaine Morris Marin Properties at Frank Howard Allen answered:
Fairfax is tremendous for families with children. In addition to a terrific school district, there is something of a 'baby boom', so lots of other families with kids. Fairfax has lots of parks and open space, along with kids simply playing in the streets. There is a community-run co-op day care facility, along with seasonal events for children. There is also an avid youth sports scene, music instructors, and a wonderful dance studio. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
Blaine Morris, Blaine Morris Marin Properties at Frank Howard Allen answered:
Fairfax has some of the most affordable housing in Marin, certainly the most affordable in the Ross Valley. This creates a supply-and-demand dynamic that keeps the home inventory moving. Family-friendly homes typically sell in a week or two provided they are priced correctly. Homes in the hills take a bit longer, as a smaller segment of the home-buying public finds these attractive. Fairfax prices have recently appreciated at a faster clip than the county as a whole, and it generally has one of the tighter housing supplies. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
