About Me
I'm a 18 year veteran of the real estate industry having started my career in sales in the north suburbs of Chicago and moving "home" to Madison in 1993. In 1994 I started a residential custom homebuilding company called Sterling Concepts and design/build 20-25 high end custom homes in the greater Madison area. Along with that I'm serving as the Operating Principal of 2 Keller Williams Realty Offices in Madison, WI and 1 in Wausau, WI. I've had the chance to give back to the real estate industry that has given me such a rewarding career.

I've served as President of the REALTOR Association of South Central Wisconsin and was named "REALTOR of Distinction" by this group in 2001. Recently I was named one of Madison's "40 under 40" by Dane County's In Business Magazine.

I specialize in helping Sellers and Buyers come to agreement and successful closing. There's no client or listing too big or too small either. I believe creating the opportunity for homeownership is essential to the strength of our communities.

Please give me a call today for all of your residential real estate needs in Madison or the greater Dane County Area. I look forward to working with you!

I would call the mortgage broker and ask. There may be a possiblity that you can take that appraisal to another lender be it a local bank or another mortgage broker and use it to try and complete the refinance. My guess is you won't be able to get the money returned as the appraiser deserves to be paid for the work they have performed but it's possible you might find another lender that can complete the refinance for you and will accept this appraisal as part of the process. - Thu Oct 30 2008, 04:42

how much is the building permit for the house?

Darren Kittleson answered:
The price of building permits vary from municipality to municipality. If you are building in the city of Eau Claire you can contact the city Building and Zoning Department and ask them or visit the city's website at http://www.eauclairewi.gov/content/view/911/900/ and under the "government" button there's a schedule of fees and permits that spell out all the fees that would pertain to a building permit.

Hope that helps. - Wed Oct 15 2008, 06:08
Darren Kittleson answered:
Paul-When you accepted the offer you created a binding contract between you and the Buyer. That being said there may be some contingencies in the offer that would allow you to deem it null and void. I would suggest you find a real estate attorney and have them review your offer and advise you as to what your options might be. As a real estate agent, I cannot give you legal advice. A few minutes with a real estate attorney will be money well spent regarding this issue. - Wed Oct 15 2008, 06:02

Regina- The Madison Metropolitan School District has a great website http://www.athomein.com (at home in) which covers all the schools in the system. What I like about it is that it gives you parent contact information so that you can call parents who have children in the school and ask about anything you'd like.

Hope that helps. - Mon Oct 13 2008, 10:37

Do the Stats & Trends include condominiums?

Darren Kittleson answered:
Leslie-It depends upon where you're looking at this. I typically like to seperate the 2 as the statistics are very different between single family and condos. My reason for this is that the buyer profile for a condo buyer and that of a single family buyer it typically very different. In the Madison market, home sales are averaging roughly 133 days from the time they come on the market until they close. Condos, however are over 200 days on market. - Tue Sep 30 2008, 10:00

Interests
Travel and learning. Sometimes I can accomplish both in the same trip, sometimes they are seperate. Favorite destinations have been the Pacific coast of Costa Rica (2005) and a river boat cruise up the Danube from Budapest to Prague (2006). I love learning about other cultures, their foods and customs and trying to speak enough of the native langauge to enjoy the trip.

Have also rented an apartment in Paris and lived like a Parisian for 10 days in 2004! That was awesome too.

Favorite trainers are John Maxwell, Seth Godin, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Gary Keller.
