My name is Velma Medina and I am a real estate agent in Lubbock, Tx. I looked up this address and could not find anything in the active, sold, under contract, terminated, etc. I also looked it up in the tax appraisal website and could not find it. If you have any more information, I will try to do another search. I would be happy to answer your question if I can find the information. - Fri Mar 28 2008, 10:00

Things to Look For

Velma Medina answered:
In addition to the information that you received from Oscar, I believe that you should check to see if the house is in a flood zone. Many homes in this area are in a flood zone. Unliess you are paying cash for a house, if the house is located in a flood zone, you will be required to pay flood insurance. You would just need to calculate that into your monthly payment. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Oscar or me; we are on the same team here at Coldwell Banker Rick Canup, Realtors.

Hope this helps! - Fri Apr 4 2008, 11:50

My name is Velma Medina and I am a real estate agent in Lubbock. There is a Fundamental Baptist Church in Lubbock. The church is Tabernacle Baptist church and their website is http://www.tbaptist.com. I don't believe that there is a fundamental Baptist Church in Slaton but you might call Tabernacle Baptist and see what church they would recommend.

Slaton is a great community. I have just listed a home in Slaton that is a 3/2/2 with 2 living areas. It is 1948 square feet and is priced at $99,500. It is not in MLS yet but we should have it thre in a couple of weeks. The sellers are working at packing and cleaning. I will also email you every home on the market right now in Slaton and southern Lubbock. Once I have a better idea of what price range you want to stay in, I can send you properties more in that price range.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about real estate in this area. You can go to my website at http://www.lubbbockhomes4u.com and find out more about me.

Thank you for contacting me about your move to Lubbock. I think that you will thoroughly enjoy your time here, in spite of what people say about Lubbock!

We are very lucky to live in a place like Lubbock. We never experience highs and lows in our economy. We have had a slow but constant growth in our city for many years. That also goes for the current housing trends. We have not experienced what other areas, even in Texas, have experienced. Real estate here goes in a cycle. Three to four years ago we had very few listings and homes were selling in a month or two. Today, we have the largest number of listings that we have had in a long, long time but that is not necessarily a bad thing. For you as a buyer that is a good thing. You have more homes to choose from and sellers are usually willing to look at lower offers. We experience a 3-4% appreciation per year on average per home. If there has been a lot of updating or improvements, a home may get a better appreciation rate.

If you will let me know what kind of home and price range you are looking for, I can set you up on an email program that will automatically send you any new listing or price reduction with your criteria. If you can be as specific as possible on things that you would want in a home, then I can add all your requests to come up with the home you would want. This will at least help you get a feel as to what kind of home you can find in your price range.

I hope this has answered the questions you had. If I can answer any other questions, please let me know. Again, I would love to help you in your home buying process when the time comes.
