It also depends on what you are looking for. Do you want a maintenance free lifestyle? Would you prefer not to do yardwork on the weekends? Do you mind living with others around you?

If you do decide to purchase a condo, check out the condominium association cash reserves and overall financial picture. Read carefully through the Master Deed, Rules & Regulations, Bylaws and ask for the last 3 months in association meeting minutes. This will let you be a fly on the wall and see what problems they are addressing or possible assessments coming up. Also, when you are looking at the condo & see some neighbors, ask them how they like living there. Ask a few people, if available for a more unbiased opinion.
