I am a Coldwell Banker Realtor and ex-school teacher, born in Tampa, and I would be happy to help you with finding a location in an A-rated school district. I have many schools listed on my website with their school grades. We do not have the 2007-2008 school grades yet. In that price range, you'll be able to move into any neighborhood. I taught school here in Tampa for 14 years, middle and high school English and Journalism. I also worked for the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the association that accredits most of the independent schools in Tampa. The critical question as regards school grades is what grade your children are in? There are only one or two A-rated high schools.
You will get the most house for your money if you go up to the north part of Tampa; therefore, if maximum square footage is a priority, I would go there. A commute to MacDill at rush hour is about 35 minutes on the Veteran's Expressway. However, there are some excellent homes in South Tampa. Commute then could be 10 to 15 minutes. Excellent schools in both locations. You'll get a much larger lot in North Tampa and could be on a lake or golf course. Does that sound like something you'd be interested in?
