Normally buyers do not pay commission, there are some exceptions though. Commission is normally paid by the seller to the buyers agent, if the buyers buy a house that does not compensate the agent this way than how will the buyers agent get paid? An example of this would be a for sale buy owner that does not want to pay commission, how would the buyers agent get paid for his or her time showing houses at $5 gallon gas. In this case the buyer would compensate the agent for their time and expenses. - Thu Aug 21 2008, 19:39

Cecil,
Are you located near La Fayette? I work in Chicago and west/southwest suburbs but know someone in the La Fayette area who may be able to help you. Please contact me if you're interested, I'd be happy to help. - Mon Aug 18 2008, 22:27

what is la grange, il like?

David Janis answered:
Anne,
I may be biased since I live in La Grange, but it is a great area with so much to offer. The Metra can get you downtown in 20 minutes if you catch an express train, but really there is so much to keep you occupied in La Grange. It has a robust downtown with a good mix of family owned businesses and national franchises. There are a lot of options for dining, a movie theater that only charges $3.50 a ticket, a new library, and good selection of clothing/retail stores. Housing is well diversified here too - some condos/townhomes close to town, homes on the historic register, and new construction too. There really is something for everyone in La Grange! If you want an interactive property search visit my website at http://www.davejanis.com and you can use the map feature to get an idea of all La Grange has to offer. - Mon Aug 18 2008, 22:19

Samantha,
I just worked with a family transferring from out West looking to be within an hour commute to the Loop... well, that left our options wide open! After showing them many, many properties in the city and suburbs, they decided on Brookfield. Now, he takes the 18 minute express train to the Loop from Brookfield and they are very happy there. Brookfield is a west/southwest suburb along the Burlington Northern train line - there are a lot of great options along this train line, some closer to the city than others. If you visit my website http://(www.davejanis.com) I have a great interactive property search feature that is integrated with a map. I can also do a rent vs. own cost analysis for you. - Mon Aug 18 2008, 22:06
