I and my wife are native to this area. Denise is native to Cocke County, I am native to Jefferson County. Real-estate since 2000. I belong to 3 associations: Lakeway Area, Great Smoky Mountain Area, and Knox Area Association of Realtors. My wife (Denise) is a Cardiac Nurse and we have 3 kids Misty, Annie, and Megan, and 3 grandchildren, Josh, Brandon, and Alex. We have a farm we operate on the side. I worked for UPS for over 23 years as a delivery driver in mostly Hamblen and Jefferson County, ocassionally Cocke, Hawkins, Grainger, and Greene. Before then I worked in different avenues of construction, electrical, carpentry, masonary, and plumbing. I try and return calls the day of by the order they come in until 10pm, if I miss them.

You can expect it to go up and down, no salary. Realestate is like watching sports players, singers, and actors- for everyone that does well, there are 10x that many that don't, and that may be a low estimate. If you have a few years money saved, or out of debt and a spouse that works a regular job, you might be ok. People are mislead when they see the big checks at a closing. What they don't see are endless hours, fuel and vehicle expenses, advertising fees, and professional fees. Not a negative view, just a realistic one. - Wed Oct 22 2008, 07:06

I went last Friday to dig some PawPaw trees up in Sevierville (thank you to the guy who gave them to me). I thought I would avoid traffic... I was wrong. Everybody visiting here must have a GPS and look for alternative ways. My little 40 minute drive turned into hours.
Suggestion. Look towards Cosby or Strawberry Plains area. My thoughts would be Straw Plains because it is close to Knoxville, Sevierville, 81, Jefferson City, etc. Cosby will get you close to Dollywood faster or Gatlinburg. I don't know much about Seymour so I can't comment on that area. - Wed Oct 22 2008, 06:50

We are about to replace the windows in our house with new windows. Check and make sure what the best windows are and who has the best work with the best prices. When I built my house in 82, we went with a cheaper double pane windows. Windows are one of the more important parts of a house if reselling, but definately from a living there view. Higher energy costs make the windows pretty much pay for themselves in savings. - Wed Oct 8 2008, 06:26
I like animals. We have dogs, cats, llamas, black bellied barbados sheep, fainting goats, cows, chickens and peafowl, oops, and fish. I like farming and gardening. I also like working on my house. This year we hope to get the Sunroom completely finished. My wife and I build everything from the footers up ourselves. I like old cars, restoring them either original or street or hot rodded, we fix them up, then seldom drive them. I like riding my bike whenever I get to, my wife and I take off and just ride. We don't get to do that a lot, but it's fun when we do. We have seen some beautiful places, great stress reliever.
