Is Novato good for families with children?

Hi Stephan,

Novato is one of the best towns in Marin Country to raise a family. The schools are excellent and the surrounding communities get involved. Low traffic, plenty of nearby parks, and a local farmers market that is very kid friendly. The ourth of July parade really brings the communty together as well as summer movie nights (under the stars) in the downtown area. Come see for yourself. It's a very welcoming town.

How do I figure out what home I can afford in Novato?

The first step is setting up a meeting with a lender/mortgage broker who will, based on the financial information you give, pre-approve you for a home loan. Second step ....contact an experienced realtor whom you feel comfortable working with who will show you houses for sale in your qualifying price range.

Can you describe how Novato looks and feels for a person that has never lived here?

Driving down 101 Northbound you are surrounded by beautiful raw hills that are so welcoming. It's my favorite part about Novato. Population is around 49,000. Novato schools are excellent. Each community is different in its own way. In the southern part of town you are fortunate to be close to the 101 freeway which can be significant if you are a commuter. Marin Country club and Indian Valley College along with some wonderful restaurants are also located in the Southern end of town. The Northern end of Novato is more rural with hiking trails surrounded by Mt. Burdell and Little Mountain. I live in an area called Pleasant Valley which is in the Northwest part of town. While in my yard I can hear horses neighing and see plenty of stars in the evening. Novato still offfers that small town atmosphere yet it's within 30 minutes from San Francisco and 20 minutes to Sonoma / Wine Country.
