I do have to agree with Greer that it all depends on your tastes and interests if a town if any town is a fit for you. I live in the town next to Uxbridge and have many friends and sold many houses in Uxbridge. It is truly a personal decision for you based on your needs, wants, and lifestyle.
Uxbridge is a very socio- economic & ethnically diverse town. Over the past 10 years has seen lots of growth and growing pains (like every town that grows). To see if it fits for you in terms of schools here are two sites to check out:
www. schooldigger.com
www. doe.mass.edu
as for checking out the town via the internet:
http://www.mma.org
http://www.massstats.com
Visit the town, its town hall, it grocery store (which was a Victory - but is now a Hannaford), Public library. Its town common, or a few of the stores downtown or one of the pizza shops- talk to the people and get a feel for it.
For schools- visit the schools- talk to the teachers, principals
Look at the town website: what does it offer in info, in meetings to attend
Be as proactive in your search as possible- as I tell my buyers - You are buying the home, I can tell you all I want , but you have to live here- it needs to meet your needs- not mine.
That being said, good luck in your search, if you would like some help from an experience agent who know the area, please feel free to contact me.
Regard,
Michael Prescott
