About Me

Lisa Halter comes from a long line of artists and has carried on the family tradition. She started drawing and painting at an early age, winning numerous awards as a young artist. She went on to receive a BFA with honors in the Communication Design program at RIT, where she was also awarded the Champion Imagination Scholarship. Lisa worked in London as an art director. After three years, she moved to New York, where she worked for several design firms, including Pentagram. She went on to become the Vice President and Design Director for Propellor Design, a design group based in New York City.

Lisa and her husband first came to Woodstock as weekend refugees from Manhattan, buying and restoring historically significant properties.They initially purchased an 1875 farmhouse on 36 acres (through Coldwell Banker Village Green!) and restored it. They are now restoring a mini-village which includes a schoolhouse, carriage house and church.

Ever since moving here, Lisa has been excited about finding homes for people, inspiring many friends to discover the area. Lisa has lived and worked in Woodstock for ten years, and in that time has gained a reputation for her intelligence, professionalism and an in-depth knowledge of the local real estate market. She consistently ranks in the top tier of agents and brokers in Ulster County.

Are there any advantages of not hiring a buyer's agent and just working with a seller's agent since you can?

Are YOU a a buyer or seller? Your question doesn't make that clear. If you are a buyer, then you are at a complete disadvantage working with a seller's agent. For example, in NY state, a seller's agent owes you only disclosure and fair and honest business dealings. By contrast,a sellers agent (who shouldn't cost a penny more) owes you Care, Confidentiality, Loyalty, Obedience, Accountability and Disclosure. Why WOULDN"T you choose these enhanced services?
In addition, each time you view a home with a seller's agent, you are working with a different agent. Instead, why not work with your own agent who has your best interests at heart? They can show you the best property among many for you, not try to sell their listing to you.
