Sandra Walker answered:
I think renting would not be a wise decision, prices for homes are very reasonable right now and buyers are taking advantage of the $8,000 tax credit incentive. I am not familiar with the market in Chicago, however, in NY and basically all over people have been able to find great deals. Unless your in a situation where renting would allow you to save more money, that's the only way I would rent. Rents are pretty high here in New York so when I hear the rediculous amounts people are spending, sometimes its better to own.
