Why leave White Plains? You are in the best town and can be at the German school in a matter of minutes. If you are used to being in the Vienna area, being in White Plains will make you feel most at home. I just sold a lovely home to a buyer also from Vienna. The train, shops, restaurants, parks are close by and the neighborhood in White Plains are beautiful. The taxes are lower too! Hi Marc, It really depends where you live, when you bought, and other factors. Some buildings are still selling quite well, others less so, but I would need to know more details before I could help you make that decision. I have seen coops slump years ago, but that certainly is not happening. They still afford a great opportunity for first time buyers to get into real estate. In fact, 105 Prospect St. for $1,299,000 is closing on 5/20, it was my listing and we had multiple offers and sold in 3 days. As an agent selling in White Plains for twenty years, I can tell you it is always a good time to buy a condo! There has been tremendous appreciation in condos, and it will continue, as more are built, and more people run from NYC prices, but still need the promixity to their job in NYC. The commuting is a breeze and the city is so exciting now with all the shops and restaurants, movie theaters - it is a great place to live! There are many choices with hi rise buildings, garden style, some with pools, concierge, all the amenities of living in Manhattan. One bedrooms start in the $200's-$300's, and 2 bedrooms more in the $4's and up. Townhouses are more pricey but very, very desirable and always sell quickly when priced right. - Thu Nov 8 2007, 17:40
