Latoya, Good Morning.
The first item to recommend is that you talk to a good mortgage broker about your situation. With a low credit score it will be much more difficult to obtain a mortgage in today's market. As for the apartments in St. Andrews, I actually own one which is also for sale right now. If all you can afford for mortgage payments is $600, I regret to tell you that in my 3 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms my HOA (Home Owners Association) alone in almost $500. That plus mortgage.
A recommendation that I can make to you is for you to rent right now. Take the time to save money and be able to raise your credit. Talk to professionals to see what you can do to improve your credit score and in the mean time save money for when you are ready and able to buy.
