Testimonials
"I had to choose only three attributes from the predefined list, but would have liked to choose all of them. Expert, Creative, Excellent, Punctual.... Steve Dean (and Eddie) are the best realtors I have ever had the pleasure of working with, not only as a buyer and their client, but also as a colleague in the Real Estate Market. They are responsible for my purchase of two homes, and a sale of one. And because of those transactions and process, I am now honored and giddy with glee to call them not only my real estate gurus but good friends."

"Buying and selling your home is extremely stressful and what I didn't realize until after our transaction was completed is that when it came to potential delays with our closing, Steve swiftly took care of things behind the scenes and only informed us on an as need to know basis when paperwork failed to come through or when other inevitable difficulties came up. As a result, our transaction was relatively pain-free and easy. Steve's thoroughness and attention to detail made the complicated issue of purchasing a co-op more understandable and reassuring. Steve and his real estate partner Eddie do an excellent job showing properties, with extra touches like taking the time to print out laminated sign talkers pointing out features about the property. Small finishes like that including taking the time to instantly stage our property with the right music and flowers meant that we only had one open house before the right offer was presented. We were very picky about the particular property we wanted to buy and Steve took the time to understand our requirements then utilized our time well by only notifying us about properties that met our critera rather than what he was trying to sell. He was patient and excellent in his follow-up by checking the real estate database frequently so that when our property came up, we just had to walk in the door and knew instantly it was the one we wanted. Steve and Eddie are highly recommended as your next realtors especially if you are looking for a property in Southwest D.C"

Where are the "emerging neighborhoods" where I can get a good value?

Steve Dean answered:
Many Washingtonians don't even know about Southwest DC. Located on the Waterfront, Southwest is comprised of mostly mid-century modern architecture from the early 1960s.

The area is experiencing a lot of revitalization. Arena Stage is renovating and expanding, the Mall has been torn down and is being rebuilt, the apartment buildings on both sides of where the Mall was are being renovated.

The city is planning a huge revitalization project between 12th and 6th Streets along Water Street and Maine Avenue. For more details on that project, visit: http://www.swdcwaterfront.com/ - Sat Jun 21 2008, 03:12

Kimberly,

You may want to check out Southwest DC. This quadrant is unique in its abundance of mid-century modern architecture. Stunning barrel roof townhouses can be had in the upper-$300s to mid-$400s depending on renovation.

Agents can never comment on crime, and safety is a personal perception.

I always suggest that clients check out http://www.washigntonpost.com/crime or http://www.crimereports.com to see what the police are reporting for a given neighborhood.

Be sure to check out the neighborhood your considering moving to and a neighborhood where you feel safe. That way you can compare statistically what is happening in both areas.

Also, go through the neighborhood you're considering at various times of the day and various days of the week. If you don't feel safe there then it's not the right choice for you. - Sat Jun 21 2008, 03:04

Jimmy - The best place to check out this data is the Recorder of Deeds website. You'll obtain information on what liens are recorded against the property, if any foreclosure notices have been filed, etc. - Sat Jun 21 2008, 03:00
