"“Hiring Wes as a Real Estate Agent to sell and assist me in buying a home was one of the best business decisions ever made. Wes's knowledge of the DC area, up to date market analyses, and the importance he places on really understanding what is important to me as a client makes him irreplacable. More than that, Wes goes above and beyond to put his clients first, ensure smooth business transactions, and achieve positive results that satisfy his clients. These are important qualities in a Real Estate Agent. He is one of the BEST.” August 18, 2008"

Also remember that the statistics about home prices include all the over priced properties that sellers are not selling because they want the 2005 price. Market is VERY specific to house type, neighborhood, specific house, etc. It is very "it depends". Worst thing to do is freak out. Stay out of the market for a bit, or perhaps commit to looking but NOT buying. Go look at property with the "I am doing research" perspective instead of a "I must determine which is the very best value". If you take the pressure off of your self, maybe it will be easier for you to research current values, and really see good value when it comes along - as it does come along. Good luck! - Fri Aug 22 2008, 13:36

Prices are probably close to bottom in that area. City Vista "L" bldg closed out 1br+den including parking at the $369K you cite. That kind of layout including parking, with gas cooking is a real bargain. Prices further south in Penn Qtr will be nearly or more than $500K for the same space without parking. City Vista "L" sales office called me because they had a 1BR including parking come back at $320K on 10th floor - it has been a couple of weeks since I had the call so I do not know if it is still available. Lots of building styles in that area. I think in a few months once the stores open up (Safeway, Results Gym, etc.) their sales will probably pick up even more. Really good pricing in that area right now. - Fri Aug 22 2008, 13:25
