where is the best place to live in New Jersey with homes under $300K and close to New York?

I would recommend Northern NJ, such as Wanaque, Haskell, Pompton Lakes, Bloomingdale areas. You can still purchas a modest home, in a quiet community with excellent schools, parks, nearby to shopping and transportation. Approximately 30 minutes to areas of New York, as well as just about 30 miles outside of New York City, Manhattan. As a Realtor in this area it is a great value and moving from New York to NJ just about 4 years ago to settle my family, these are wonderful communities to choose. I liked to use Sperlings Best Places To Live as both a buyer, seller and sometimes even as a Realtor. It is a user friendly site that allows you to compare different cities with where you live, where you would like to live or even just find a similar city to your present location within a different state.
