are there any apartmaents in the area?

Hi,
Yes there are several. Forest Point Lux. Apts, Edisto Terrace, Palmetto Oaks. They have from 1-3 bedrooms, some are gated communities some are not. Some are "children" friendly while others lean more towards the more mature older crowd.

There are also some apartments that are income based, but the quality and location are not the best.

Hi,
Well speaking from experience, I would suggest using a home town bank. One that actually sits down before a loan board and can speak in "laymans" terms about your financial situation/credit history. They use what we call "common sense" decision making skills. Where as most mortgage/finance companies, will use the "auto" type. Where they type in your information into a computer, and the underwriter "pulls out his rule book" per se, and decides whether or not you are "trust" worthy due to low score.
That is just my opinion, and like I mentioned that was from experience with both. Knowing that a person was there to fight for me using common sense versus what the book says, really can set your mind at ease. Plus, they are able to work out so many different types of loans compared to what may be offered from the finance company.
