About Me
About Andrew Stone

I like to walk, I like to ride my bike, I like to join the gallery strolls, dine at neighborhood restaurants, shop at the neighborhood produce stands and pick up my paper from the corner market. To do all of these things, my family makes our home in the Downtown Salt Lake City Neighborhood of East Liberty/Sugarhouse. When we take time off we enjoy traveling throughout Utah, The United States, Europe and Asia.

My Client-First Philosophy

There are many qualities and skills that go into being an excellent real estate professional – integrity, in-depth community and market knowledge, marketing savvy, effective negotiation skills and a high-quality professional network, all of which are hallmarks of how I work. That said, in my experience as a Salt Lake City real estate professional, I've also found that providing the very best service is essentially about putting my clients first. This means keeping myself accessible, being a good listener as well as a good communicator, and responding quickly to your needs. This "client first" philosophy has always been my approach and it requires me to continually improve my skills and ways of doing business. In addition, I've found that the latest technologies are enabling me to do everything I've always done, only much more quickly and efficiently. They've also helped me to extend the range of services I provide to my clients. So when you decide that you'd like to buy or sell a home in the Salt Lake City areas, please contact me.

Education and Background

In 1991 I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. Following this I continued to follow my career path in the hospitality industry as a Sales Manager for Bristol Hotels and Resorts and later as a General Manager for Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts. As General Manager I was responsible for two hotels, 15 managers, 200 employees, 500 guest rooms, 2 restaurants and 15,000 square feet of meeting space. While it was a challenging, exciting and successful career I found myself looking for a connection with people that only Real Estate could give me and made my move to Real Estate in 2005. When I say that I can put my years of sales and service experience to work for you, I mean it.

""My wife and I met Andrew at an open house he was co-hosting. We were not yet prepared to begin a serious search for our own next home, but we agreed that we liked Andrew and should seriously consider selecting him as our agent when our search began in earnest. Once we were prepared actually to start looking for a house, we did contact Andrew, and we have been happy about the decision ever since. He was extremely good about listening to our criteria -- some of which were almost mutually exclusive -- and he was considerate of our budget and did not waste time showing us houses unless he thought they would sell for a price within our range. As time went by, and we looked at houses with him, he learned our tastes and preferences quickly, and became quite good at anticipating our reactions to different qualities in houses. Once we began placing offers on houses, we came to truly appreciate Andrew's help. We felt that he was sincerely committed to representing us, as buyers, and we believe he worked hard to protect our interests. We have no doubt he would work just as honestly on behalf of a seller. We have already recommended Andrew to others, and we will continue to do so. The world of real estate can seem rather cynical and mercenary these days, but we think that Andrew's approach is of the less common variety, and we believe that he was concerned - first and foremost - with finding the house that would be right for us.""

"Dear Andrew: I just wanted to write and express appreciation for the outstanding job you did on the sale of the Glendale home from the Cosby Estate. I was impressed not only with you patience in handling all of the documentation required with the various offers and Addenda, but also with the extra work you put in to make the property presentable for sale. I really felt you went the extra mile and provided outstanding service. I have mentioned your name to several people and told them about all the extra effort you went to with this property. If I can ever help with a recommendation, please let me know. Thank you again.""

""Even though we were familiar with the Salt Lake City area we wanted assistance from a real estate agent when buying our first home. Andrew provides more than just a list of houses for sale. He has experience assessing the various components of a house, a comprehensive understanding of the market, and the patience to work with clients until they find the perfect home.""
Brian and Allison Nicholson Wed Apr 9
""Andrew's gift for recognizing his customers' needs and tastes in houses helped us quickly find the perfect home. Thank you Andrew!""

Very Easy.

Andrew Stone answered:
I have sold many homes offered as FSBO. I have no problem with it and will show them as well.

What I do is call the home owner first and let them know I am an agent. 99% of the time they will work with agents. I then ask to preview the home to see if it will fit my clients needs and if it does I schedule a showing for my client. Simple as that. If the home doesn't fit my clients needs, then we don't bother the FSBO with a showing.

The only time I don't show a FSBO is if the owner does not want an agent in the picture, then it is up to my clients. They can still see it and I can still help them with the paperwork. The buyer then just has to pay the commission. I have gone this route and it has worked out just fine. The only problem was that the seller was still mad that they used an agent, even when they paid the commission. He did not like that I advised them to get a home inspection. It was a 100 year old home. Of course I advised them to have the home inspected. - Sun Sep 21 2008, 19:37

Andrew Stone answered:
Todd hit the nail on the head. If you are purchasing a home as a quick fix and flip, then now is not a good time to buy. If you are purchasing the home for a long term residence and plan to spend at least the next five years there, then you should weather it all just fine. - Wed Jul 2 2008, 05:46
