It sounds like your lender is working with you to make things okay. Because the real estate market is a cycle, it normally will go back up. At least that what history has shown us. There are many different scenarios that could happen. The lender that forecloses on your home has the choice of how they deal with it. First thing you should look at is are you in a recourse or non-recourse loan? If you are in a non-recourse loan and no loan fraud was committed then the banks that foreclose on that home have "no recourse". Please pull out your original loan documents that you signed when you bought your home & also all other loans you have against that home & take them to a realtor or an attorney that understands recourse or non-recourse.
