On the flip side, I was looking for a home and was shown one where an older parapallegic died. The house was great and we didn't care about the death in regards to wanting the house until the real estate agent pointed out the exact location in the house where he died and how they found his body etc..

Commissions are negotiable but you have to think that your agent will work hard for a better %.
I definetely would not hire any person who wasn't getting paid to work because I would assume that they wouldn't be doing 100% to help me. And that really is the key, you may be shocked if agents are charging the same as years past but I bet they are still putting forth 100% ethical practices that they did years past.
