Congratulations on your relocation. I know it must be a stressful time for you but with our help hopefully all will go smoothly. My suggestion would be for you to give serious consideration to South Tampa. This is a much sought after area of Tampa and is in very close proximity to Tampa General Hospital as you requested. I work in the South Tampa market and can offer to send you all available listings which meet your criteria.

I would also be happy to send you a link to the Hillsborough County school locator. This link will allow you to enter the property address of any home you have an interest in, to determine the school associated with that address. You may then visit the schools website to determine it's school "report card" or rating.

Valrico and Brandon may offer you additional opportunities to find larger and newer homes in your price range but the commute may be about 20-30 minutes for your wife to TGH. How did you decide on Gibsonton? Just curious how people make those types of decisions. You can also explore other choices such as Riverview, Apollo Beach and Valrico, many of which have already been suggested.

I would also suggest that you have a qualified real estate agent sit down with you to review the number of homes currently for sale in any community you have an interest in. Details such as commute (especially into Tampa), schools and resale opportunities later on, should all play an important role in helping you to determine the location which makes the most sense for you and your family.

Hello Pete,

All of the replies you've gotten so far are great. You really need to decide on a particular home criteria that's best for you and your family and then rely on a qualified agent to help you find that home. South Tampa, for example, does offer the fastest commute to MacDill, but if a newer home coupled with more home for your money (maybe even a pool) is important to you then Valrico, Brandon and Riverview would be your better options.

I have helped military members like you find homes in both locations and they all made a choice that was best for them. Schools seem to be an important consideration for you and it would make a big difference depending on the school level of your child, i.e.. Elementary, Middle or High School.

If you would like I would be happy to forward you a link to the schools website locator tool. You can find which school corresponds with a particular address and then you can view that particular schools website and view it's rating (or report card) there as well.

If I can help just ask. Just keep in mind that it is ultimately up to you but Valrico, Brandon and Riverview do offer an easy commute and a house with a pool and a garage and a yard and.....you get my point.
