Martin County Public Schools, including Martin County High, Jensen Beach High, South Fork High and most of the middle and elementary schools, have been givien a 'A' rating three years in a row and have an extremely high graduation rate. Stuart is situated perfectly for commuting either north or south as Federal Highway (US Rt.1)runs directly through the city and Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike both have exits convieniently located here. Historic Downtown Stuart is the heart of the cultural scene and night life. Gourmet restaurants and funky bars coexist with the the famous Lyric Theater where the shows range from rock to opera, comedians to dramas. Also available is the Barn Theater for wonderful Local theater. The Eliott Museum on Hutchinson Island displays antique cars and inventions and the Oceanographic Learning Center across the street gives us the chance to pet stingrays and learn about the environment of this beautiful area. Stuart and Martin County offer many parks and recreational areas for all different activities. There are Boat launching ramps and picnic areas at the Jensen Beach and Stuart Causeways and Sandsprit Park, right where the St.lucie River, Indian River and the Intracoastal Waterway meet at the St. Lucie Inlet. Many public Beaches on Hutchinson Island offer guarded swimming, restrooms, and concession stands. Indian Riverside Park offers history and recreation in a beautiful riverside location and Halpatiokie Park offers skating, soccer fields and baseball fields in a natural unspoiled preserve area along the 'South Fork'.
