About Me
Hello let me introduce myself... I am a full time 2nd generation real estate professional, serving the Stamford and Norwalk communities for over 30 years.

You might know me from coaching your children in either Hockey, Softball, Baseball or Soccer. I am a father two great kids a 16 year daughter and a 12 year old son, who have been very active in sports in Norwalk.

As a Life long resident (almost) of the area, my family moved to Stamford when I was just 3 years old. I have seen many new and wonderful transitions in our community, and watched Stamford grow up. I moved to Norwalk in the 90’s and have raised my family there.

I believe that my experience and long history in the area would help to best serve your needs when looking to buy or sell your next home.

What is the Ferris Ave area of Norwalk, CT like?

Chris Farris answered:
Hello Troy, I am very familiar with the Ferris Ave area. No it has nothing to do with my last name either...lol

But seriously, I have grown up in the Norwalk-Stamford area all my life, when I moved from home the first apartment that I had was in Norwalk Ct, on Ferris Ave. I lived there for about 3 years and found it to be a very safe and convenient area to live in, close to shopping and high ways for easy commuting. Over the last decade or more the street has changed from small single family homes to more smaller condominium complexes. The street is still in a great location and offers the same conveniences as stated before.

CO-OP housing - good OR bad??

Chris Farris answered:
Marcie has some great points about the other differences between Co-ops and condos, but one more additional concern about the Co-op is that many of the boards in this area also don’t allow for rental of the unit. Meaning that if you no longer want to live there it can be complicated to rent it out and keep the property as an investment for the future. As where the Condo associations sometimes have limitations of the rentals it is usually easier to rent them out and hold on to the condo as an investment.

I would look in the long term investment of your property, everyone has different need and willing to different opinions, you need to look at your needs and consider a purchase that is right for you. I would like to help you if you still have any questions. - Tue Oct 21 2008, 13:52

First time buyer looking to start the home buying process.

Chris Farris answered:
Hello Richard, It is great that you have the confidence in the market now to look for your first home. There is the old says in investment to buy low sell high, well right now the market is at a low point and there for a great opportunity for buyers.
There are still many great advantages out there for first time home buyers. There is the Tax credit as mentioned in a previous post and the banks still have many incentive programs available, as long as you have good credit history and verifiable income. The first place for you to really start your purchase process is to talk with a Mortgage Company that can prequalify you, and find out what it is that you afford. You can contact the Mortgage company that I work with Northern States Mortgage, (Lisa Antrum, Lisa@northernstatesmortgage.com) they offer a $1,000 rate guarantee, where they will find you the best rate on your mortgage or pay you the $1,000.

Once you know what it is that you will qualify for then we can narrow down what your options are and start a search on the available properties that are out there that you fit your needs and wants. - Tue Oct 21 2008, 12:20

Hello Sue,

Your question is a tough one but it has a simple answer. When looking for a home you need to find the home that best fits your price range and your needs. Whether the property is Bank owned or not if it is the right home for you, we should look at it. With every home purchase there is always some concern for security.

I would be happy to work with you to research the properties available in your price range here in Stamford and the surrounding areas. As a life long resident in the area and a 2nd generation realtor in Stamford for over 30 years, I think we can give you the support you need in your home search.
