My experience has been that open houses do not sell houses and agents basically use them to get buyer leads. Somewhere along the line, I read that only about 1% of houses actually sell because a buyer walked into the open house.
However, the other viewpoint is that exposure is good and if you have an open house a person who comes in may mention it to someone else who is looking.
I would not recommend an open house every weekend as it gets stale. Buyers continually see it open and wonder why?????
Most importantly, though, you as the seller are in charge. If you are not comfortable with an open house every weekend, just tell your agent how many you would like him/her to do. The agent works for you!
