Farming areas can't possibly be 'off limits' to other agents, either in your own company or in another. However, I would say the problem here is with the integrity of your new agent. The established agent told the newbie about the potential listing. As a broker, you may wish to discuss team playing, do unto others, and not burning bridges with the other agents in your office. Gossip travels quickly in real estate offices, and bad reputations can be hard to recover from.

If the newbie had heard about the client through their own sources, then, of course it would be fair game. - Tue Mar 17 2009, 12:51
