Are you currently working with a REALTOR who knows the area? I'm in Spartanburg, but lived in Gaffney and have many friends in Cowpens and Blacksburg, so I'm also familiar with Cherokee County properties. Your best bet is to talk with a lender to find out about your VA qualifications. I have a GREAT lender who can give you all the info you need and find out what suits you best. I've grown up in the Spartanburg area and am a REALTOR here. It has many homes and smaller suburb areas for you to choose from and I encourage you to find a local REALTOR to assist you with your search to save you time and hassle to narrow the market to what suits you. Hi, Jenni. Like Steve, I encourage you to check out the Greenville --- AND SPARTANBURG area of South Carolina. I was reared in the upstate and am partial to Spartanburg because of it's central location to EVERYTHING -- the beach, the mountains, and large cities (for shopping and attractions -- Charlotte and Atlanta) are a few hours via interstate. We have a growing economy and our market has been stable during the last year of the market decline. The Spartanburg area is smaller than Greenville and I personally prefer it that way. But Greenville is just a short (30 min.) commute -- and you still have great mountain views!
