The MLS in the San Francisco Bay Area is an organization of real estate agents and affitliates which requires membership and dues. You could post to Craig's List and run your own local ads. Of course, you would have to be available to show your property and qualify the buyer if someone responds. I would suggest that you discuss timing with your agent and find out why s/he is reluctant to put your home on the market now. Is there work that needs to be done so it shines? Your agent should be the expert, so ask questions; Perhaps you should also interview another agent. - Mon Jan 14 2008, 15:22
I guess we need to make a few assumptions about single, professional women to answer the question. I'll Assume that interaction with others, security and elegance are high on the list. I'd look at the condos and homes in the Fountaingrove area and northeast areas. There are many more urban areas that Sylvia and Dave pointed out also. We really need to clarify what the unattached professional woman of a certain age likes --such as her preferences for condos vs. single family homes, land, price range, city vs. country, style, etc. Perhaps quiet and natural win out over urban and proximity to restaurants and theaters. - Sun Oct 14 2007, 16:42
Petaluma is WONDEFFUL and diverse. A River Town from the 1860's, it incorporates its agricultural roots with a 1st class downtown city. Ironfront buildings from the 1800's and Victorian homes meet the revitalized downtown shopping/theater district where apartments and condos are available on 2nd and 3rd floors of retail/office buildings. Pedestrian friendly but with lots of free parking. Wetlands, trails, parks and boating welcome residents and visitors. Private and Public schools are good, restaurants are plentiful and diverse, Health care - from the hospital to the clinics and medical buildings - is readily available, and the people are friendly and involved in their community. It's a wonderful place to live! - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
Crime exists, but it doesn't seem to be foremost in our thoughts when walking around. Some neighborhoods seem to have more graffiti than others. Physical assault is unusual. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
Many move here to start their families or to move their families to a 'better' area. Schools are generally good and there are lots of city sponsored sports. The Boys and Girls club has 3 locations so after school care is available. Many day care centers -- some part of the business parks -- make it easier for parents to work. While this is considered a bedroom community of San Francisco, there is good employment opportunity in this county and in Petaluma. The Healthy Community Consortium, Big Brothers & Sisters, MentorMe Petaluma, and Leadership Petaluma all exist to help children and the community-at-large. Many non-profit and service organizations are community oriented. (e.g. Rotary has 3 or 4 chapters here, Kiwanis, Elks, Odd Fellows, AAUW, Business &Professional Women, Soroptomists, and numerous church organizations) - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
Since 1972, I've been involved in the leasing of commercial property, representing both tenants and landlords.
In 1989, I added the sales component of investment property, representing both buyers and sellers.
In 1991, I added residential sales, representing both buyers and sellers since my commercial clients also needed homes!
I look forward to discussing your specific real estate goals and helping you achieve them!

In addition to real estate and investments, I'm passionate about making educational opportunities available for our children and am a 26-year member of the Petaluma branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) specifically for that reason. I also served for 7 years on the Petaluma Valley Hospital Foundation since I believe that having a hospital and good medical services in a community are of great benefit to the community. I support numerous non-profit organizations in and around Petaluma with time and money, and believe that "giving back" is not just a feel-good action but an obligation.
In my spare time, I love to travel.
