A word of caution about the tax-relief legislation: there are some exceptions that could affect your situation, such as if you refinanced with cash-out. Hiring a good real estate attorney is essential. See if any attorneys offer free initial consultations, and check with a few of them to make sure you have a good overview of how they may represent you. - Wed Jan 16 2008, 14:54
There are a lot of reasons why sellers keep their prices high -- some are unrealistic, some feel their home is "better" than the competition, and some aren't highly motivated to sell. Napa sellers know that Napa remains a desirable place to buy, and isn't as affected by the so-called bubble as some other places in California. Relatively speaking, buildable land is scarce in Napa, and it still attracts willing buyers. - Thu Dec 27 2007, 14:41
My answer is "yes" to all the above: yes it's useful, yes it's a crapshoot and yes, it definitely can be a waste of time! I have spent many floor time hours getting caught up on paperwork and such, with no calls the entire time. I have also gotten leads that did not pan out. But I have also sold over $2 million in property directly from floor calls. So yes, I continue to take floor time. - Thu Dec 27 2007, 14:18
Santa Rosa is extremely varied and diverse in its neighborhoods. You'll find areas of town that are modest and made up of chiefly low income residents, as well as areas that are expensive and very high end. There is a blend of suburban tract neighborhoods -- both low and high end -- and very rural and agricultural neighborhoods. Santa Rosa is often described in terms of NW, NE, SE and SW quadrants, separated by Highway 101 in the north-south corridor, and Highway 12 in the east-west corridor. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
In a city as large as Santa Rosa, crime is not unheard of. By and large it feels safe and walking around isn't a problem. There are different crime rates in different areas of town, and the different neighborhoods have different 'feels' about them. - Mon Apr 23 2007, 15:51
