About Me
Licensed in 1988, I have had the pleasure of working in the real estate industry coast to coast and sea to shining sea, thanks to my husband military career. Recently retired from military service, we call Hampton Roads Virginia home. I can identify with the unique situations and stress that military families face with each and every new duty station. I have several industry designations and continue to educate myself as real estate laws and contracts evolve. Each and every transaction is different and I believe that is why I have retained such passion and joy for all things realestate. I am active in the Great Dane Rescue as well as the Chesapeake Bay Retreiver Rescue. I love what I do both professionally and personally.

Anne Needles answered:
You can get the crime stats by going to the Law Enforcement websites in each of the areas you are interested in. There are wonderful neighborhoods throughout Hampton Roads and what is "good" to some may not be to others. It truly is up to each individual person. I always advise potential buyers to visit areas at different times of the day and I encourage them to knock on doors and ask questions that are on your mind. Neighbors have no problem dishing on their neighborhoods. - Mon Aug 4 2008, 11:04

Tax assesments are public knowledge and can be accessed on the City of Newport News website. YOu can also find out who the current owner is as well. - Mon Aug 4 2008, 10:56

You need to list your home for sale and for rent with a realtor who will price it accordingly. You need to be patient as our market has changed and continues to change on a daily basis. If your home is priced right, is in good repair , and has that WOW factor, there is no reason why your home won't sell. It does'nt hurt to add a cookie or two to entice buyers and the agents that represent them. - Mon Aug 4 2008, 10:49

Is Smithfield, VA a good place to live and buy a house?

Anne Needles answered:
Smithfield is a great place to live but it is not for everyone. We are still considered rural. With that being said, we are about thirty minutes to Suffolk, the Peninsula, and Chesapeake. We enjoy the pace that is condusive to country living but we are only a short ride to great restaurants, shopping, beaches, museums, and all things that make Hampton Roads so desireable. Our downtown is quaint and perfect for strollling on a Sunday afternoon as well as Friday nite concerts. Homes can be a bit pricey but lots are somewhat larger than other areas around Hampton Roads. - Mon Aug 4 2008, 10:35

Hi Ashley, Congrats on paying off your debt; nothing feels quite as good as being debt free. There are several products that can get you into a home with little or no money down. Not all lenders are created equal and your agent should be able to point you in the right direction. There is a local lender that has a great program for those interested in purchasing a home in and around the Smithfield/Isle of Wight area. I have also worked with a credit union that has a product that looks and acts like a VA loan but is really a conventional loan. There are also several first time buyer programs available to buyers in Viriginia with great rates and minimal closing costs. As far as knowing a great buyers agent.............. Give me a call, we can meet and interview each other to see if we are on the same page. Take a look/see at my profile. - Mon Aug 4 2008, 10:12
